I first met IYENGAR® Yoga in `95, as I moved to Copenhagen after 3 years of rigourous dance training in London. My whole being was grateful and happy with the change and I soon decided to follow this new path and become an IYENGAR® Yoga teacher.

I did my teacher training at BKS IYENGAR Yoga Centre CPH, at that time Yogaskolen, and after certication I have continued to study there. I was also part of the teaching faculty until dec 2010, when I felt it was time to seek new pastures.

For me, teaching, living and practising Yoga has become a condition of life, a way of relating to the spinning world around me. The endless journey of selfdiscovery, which is forever rewarding and challenging, is closely linked to my practice of Yoga and Pranayama.

Teaching in the name of B.K.S. IYENGAR:

To become a certified IYENGAR® Yoga teacher you must first take classes and practice IYENGAR® Yoga for three years, and then follow a three year teacher training. The teacher training will focus on your own practice as well as anatomy and yoga philosophy. After a minimum of 6 years knowledge and practice of IYENGAR® Yoga and passing the assessment you may be a certified teacher.

After passing the introductory assessment it is up to the individual teacher to decide whether he/she wants to continue the process of assessment for higher levels. All certified teachers, who wish to teach under the name of B.K.S. IYENGAR must at least maintain their level by studying a minimum of hours, under a teacher of higher certification every year.

It is an ongoing and substantial training and a way of life, which requires a deep interest in the subject and a great amount of work from the teachers. None the less, the strong foundation for the teaching bring safety to both teacher and student. It is a project and a journey for life, which brings great joy.
