-Correct alignment in asana, ensures a safe and penetrating practice, which in turn ensures the full physiological, mental and emotional benefits from your practice.
-The development and use of props by B.K.S. Iyengar, for safe learning and exploration. The use of props opens the mind to the possibility of going beyond our limitations. Props are very useful if we are working with different ailments, back pain or knee problems.
-The use of sequencing in the progression of the class, the monthly cycle and the full cycle that is life. Sequencing in class supports the learning of more difficult and challenging poses, by preparing the body and mind to go deeper.

-The concept of timing. By holding the poses longer we get the full physiological effect on our nervous-, hormonal- and digestive systems. As well as the mental benefits from concentrating and focusing on sustaining the awareness in the body, mind and breath.
